Women's rugby side put on 'good performance'
A trial match played by Woy Woy Rugby Union's women's side against Hornsby on Saturday, March 16, has been described as "a good performance".
Coach Iain Russell said the girls should be commended for their effort.
"We had a large contingent of players desperate for some real game practice and it took about 20 minutes before we started to get out of training mode and into game mentality.
"Over the remainder of the match, the girls steadily improved and, with forward momentum, started finding gaps out wide.
"The usual pre-season teething issues were present including not aligning and not getting off the line in defence.
"We were guilty of ball watching thus letting the ball carrier get isolated.
"These issues will be ironed out with more game-scenario training sessions which we will work on over the next month.
"It was great to see the new girls take to the field and there were some understandable nerves.
"But they slotted right in with the feedback being they all felt better after that first tackle and hit up.
"It is worth noting the players who excelled: 3 Lahni Moore, 2 Annabella Tedman, 1 Lola-Rose Cooper and 1 Aiesha El-kurdi.
