Appeal launched to build covered area at arboretum
The Pearl Beach Arboretum has launched a crowd-funding appeal to raise money to build a new covered outdoor area for its cottage.
"The cottage in our beautiful arboretum provides a unique venue for events like the beloved Opera in the Arboretum, the Pearl Beach Ephemeral Art Trail and Community Christmas Carols," said arboretum secretary Ms Mary Knaggs.
It is also "a place for arboretum volunteers to meet, learn and educate about the crucial role played by our conservation work".
Ms Knaggs said: "The ever-growing scope of Arboretum community activities means we have outgrown the cottage and are in desperate need of a fit-for-purpose covered outdoor area."
The appeal has a target of $58,870, with more than $5000 pledged.
"Every little bit counts.
"All donations over $2 are tax deductible."
