Meals on Wheels day was a 'resounding success'
The Meals on Wheels Central Coast open day held in Woy Woy on Wednesday, March 20, attracted 100 people and was a "resounding success", according to chief executive Ms Neridah Morris.
"We are thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout for this year's Seniors Festival Open Day," she said.
"It's truly heart-warming to witness the joy and camaraderie that this event brings to our community."
She said the day brought together seniors, their families, and local service providers for a day of celebration, connection and enrichment.
"The event included healthy living exhibitions from local service providers, free Devonshire teas and the opportunity for local seniors to learn about the organisation's meal delivery and social support services.
"Throughout the morning, guests mingled with Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers to learn about the comprehensive service that goes beyond the delivery of a meal.
"In addition to offering over 170 delicious and nutritious meals, the organisation runs four local community restaurants, social support, wellness checks, assisted shopping, and even pre-packaged pet food."
Service providers at the event included Community Transport Central Coast and Coast Shelter.
"The highlight of the event was the vibrant community marketplace, featuring local businesses and organisations offering products and services tailored to seniors," said Ms Morris.
"Guests were spoilt with choice with a selection of activities; from grocery-filled basket raffles, charming market stalls, free cappuccinos and delightful showbags, giving them the opportunity to discover new resources, have a chat and connect with their community."
Describing the event as memorable, she said: "We look forward to helping more seniors to live a flourishing, independent life."
