March rainfall was lowest in 20 years

The March rainfall total was the lowest in 20 years, according to figures supplied by Mr Jim Morrison of Umina.

With 31mm recorded for the month, it was less than the previous lowest in the same period, which was 55mm recorded in March last year.

The average rainfall for March is 181mm.

The previous lowest March total was 21.6mm, according to figures recorded at the Everglades Country Club in March 1998.

The highest fall for the month recorded this year was 10.5mm on March 15, with 9.1 recorded on March 17.

Falls of more than one millimetre were recorded on seven other days of the month.

Total rainfall so far this year is 245.6mm, which is just over half the first quarter average of 456mm.
