Anti-scams forum to be held at Ocean Beach surf club
An anti-scams forum will be held at Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Umina Beach, from 12pm to 3pm on Wednesday, April 10.
Federal Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid will host the Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services,Mr Stephen Jones for the forum.
"Last year, we were able to host a successful anti-scams forum at Davistown RSL, alongside Minister Stephen Jones, that attracted over 200 people," said Dr Reid.
"The forum was highly informative, and attendees left with a range of strategies to reduce their likelihood of being targeted by a scam.
"Attendees were also provided with resources that they could use to identify, avoid, and report scams.
"I encourage those interested in learning about strategies to identify and avoid scams to attend", Dr Reid said.
Dr Reid said that the National Anti-Scams Centre's second quarterly report has shown scam losses in October to December last year had almost halved compared to the same period in 2022.
"The Federal Labor Government is focused on reducing the number of people that are targeted and affected by scams, whether it is online, over the phone, or in a letter."
