Brigades called help injured mountain bike rider

Rural Fire Service brigades from Pearl Beach, Patonga and The Bays were called out at 2:30pm on Saturday, March 23, to assist other emergency services with an injured mountain bike rider in Brisbane Waters National Park near Patonga Dr.

The bike rider had been reported as going over an embankment in the bush near Patonga.

The rider was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

NSW Ambulance, Brisbane Water Police and the Fire and Rescue crew from Station 340 Umina attended.

The air ambulance was in the area seaching for swimmers reported to be in difficulty in waters between Lobster Beach and Umina Beach.

The swimmers were located by water police, and it was determined they did not need air transport.

The helicopter landed at Umina Oval to assess the bike rider and took the rider to hospital.
