Students compete in zone swimming carnival

Thirty-six students from Umina Beach Public School competed in the Gosford-Peninsula Zone Swimming Carnival on March 12.

The carnival was held at the Peninsula Leisure Centre with Umina students up against students who excelled in their own swimming carnivals from 13 other schools.

"All our students demonstrated excellent behaviour and sportsmanship during the carnival.

"Our students also performed well in the events which helped our school place second overall in total points scored for the day," said principal Ms Lyn Davis.

Some stand-out results for Umina Beach Public School included the Junior Girls 4x50 relay team taking out first place, the Junior Boys and Senior Girls 4x50 relay teams both taking out second place, Umina students placed first in the Senior Girls 200m individual medley, and broke records in the 8-year-old Girls 50m freestyle and the 12-13-year-old boys 50m backstroke.

Another was named the Junior Girls Age Champion of the carnival.
