Southern Spirit wins champion player awards
A number of Southern Spirit Cricket Club players were honoured at the Central Coast Cricket Association's 2018/19 Season Awards Night, held at Central Coast Leagues Club on March 13.
The Spirit's Lachlan Bull was the club's first awardee of the night, taking out the Glen Rowlands Under-21 Champion Player award.
This was followed by a number of players receiving Grade Champion Player awards for their brackets with Shane Higgins taking out the award for Third Grade, Greg Kenney for Fourth Grade, Aaron Troughton for Eight Grade and Mark McGowan for Ninth Grade.
The club is also celebrating its recent grand final wins with both the Eight and Ninth Grade teams bringing home the 2018-19 Premierships.
In the Eight Grade, Southern Spirit claimed the Premiership after defeating Narara Wyoming at Mascord Park on March 16.
Narara batted first and were dismissed for 73.
Chasing 74 points for the win, the Spirit was led by Man of the Match John Taylor who scored 15 not outs from seven balls to cement their victory.
Poor weather washed out the Ninth Grade grand final with the Association determining Spirit as the Premiers based off of their performance during the season.
