Year's first Interact meeting at Umina campus
Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus held its first Interact Club meeting for 2019 on March 13.
"Our Interact Club enables students in Years 7 to 9 the opportunity to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self in partnership with the Rotary Club of Woy Woy," said acting campus principal Mr Adam Montgomery.
The Interact Club would organise at least two projects every year, one that helped the school or community and one that promoted international understanding, he said.
"Woy Woy Rotary Club sponsors, mentors and guides our Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills," Mr Montgomery said.
The inaugural meeting was a basic introduction to the club and what 2019 Interactors could expect to be doing throughout the year.
A second meeting will be held to elect the 2019 Interact Club board.
Mr Montgomery said he had encouraged all students in Years 7 to 9 interested in giving back to their community to come to the second meeting.
