Roosters have first loss of season

The Woy Woy Roosters had their first loss for the season against Berkeley Eagles on March 2.

"Low on numbers in all departments through late withdrawals and prior commitments new head coach Ray Farag had a job at hand putting together some combinations from the 19 players available," said club president Mr Dean Slattery.

"At kick off, the temperature was 30 plus and conditions were going to be difficult for both clubs, particularly our boys who were up against two squads from the Eagles.

"After four 20-minute quarters, we went down 17-16 and handed back the Interclub Trophy to the Eagles for safe keeping until next season.

"The day went all their way with us getting touched up in the boat race as well," Mr Slattery said.

"Although Ray and our coaching staff have some work to do (footy and boat races alike), our players' commitment could not be faulted on the day and it's encouraging to see the potential in all and the improvement that they'll make with all at training; as individuals and as a group as the season progresses."
