Retirees help charities distribute food

Volunteers from a Umina retirement village are helping local charities distribute food to those in need.

The volunteers from Peninsula Village are delivering bread between Hope Church Central Coast at Umina Beach and the St Vincent De Paul Society at Woy Woy.

"Hope Church offers a community service on Friday mornings called Open Pantry, where those less fortunate can come to collect food items," said Peninsula Villages chief Mr Shane Neaves.

"There are often loaves of bread left over, with the church offering to donate the excess to Vinnies.

"With Vinnies unable to collect the items from the church, our volunteers have stepped in to assist with deliveries each Friday."
