Council rezones open space land
Gosford Council has approved a re-zoning application for numbers 1, 3 and 5 Britannia St and 113 Springwood St, Umina, near Ettalong Memorial Bowling Club.
The rezoning will change the land from a zone 6c open space private recreation to zone 2b residential for the purpose of developing the land for future medium density housing.
Councillors inspected the site on Tuesday, April 27.
The site was originally rezoned from 2b residential to 6c open space private recreation in June 2000.
The application was made to Council this year to rezone the land back to residential as the land was not going to be needed by its owners, the Ettalong Memorial Bowling Club.
A staff report to the council noted the proposal to rezone the land the back to residential "represents a rational approach to the zoning pattern to rectify the current disjoined land zonings".
"It will remove the potential physical location of the two lots on the corner of Britannia and Springwood street," it stated.
"The proposal will allow for uniformity with the surrounding land uses that is within an extensive 2b residential zone and result in the continuity off this zone."
