Relay raises money
Peninsula resident Bill Ide and his wife raised $4723 in Port Macquarie as part of Relay for Life over the weekend of April 3 and 4.
This was over half of their team's total of $8654.
Relay for Life is a 24-hour walk, which raises money for cancer research.
Mr Ide and his wife took part in Stuart Park, Port Macquarie, with a team of 18 people.
His sister in Port Macquarie is having her own battle with cancer, which inspired Mr Ide.
He collected money on the Central Coast from various business people and the general community.
Campbell's Home Hardware donated several power tools that were raffled from both their stores at Woy Woy.
Peter Lewis of St Hubert's Island won the main raffle.
The money raised was handed over in a ceremony on Sunday morning April 4 at Stuart Park, Port Macquarie, to the head of the Cancer Council Committee.
