Application deferred
Gosford Council has deferred a development application for a house in Taylor St, Woy Woy Bay, in order to negotiate with the owner.
Council received three public submissions, one petition with six signatures and one letter of support with regard to the application.
The land was created with the consolidation of Lot 1 and Lot Y in 1996.
Lot 1 was formerly a public road measuring 82sqm.
Council resolved in 1995 to support the road closure and sale to the adjoining owner of Lot Y as the land was no longer needed for road purposes.
It is proposed to construct a one and two storey house with detached garage, including decks at ground floor and first levels.
Mr Jeffrey Cook addressed Council on behalf of residents affected by the development.
He said that local residents wanted the land created into a park and that it was a wildlife corridor for brush turkeys.
Councillors joked that the park could be called "Tony Altavilla Park" after the land's owner, and wondered whether that would give them a discount on acquiring the land.
Mr Cook said that the development would create a blind corner along Taylor St.
However, he said, failing that, residents would be satisfied if the development was moved backwards and the garage forwards.
"The proposed driveway is inadvisable on the grounds that it may well be danger to the people of this community."
