Nominations are wanted

Residents of the Peninsula are being urged to nominate worthy citizens for 2004 Gosford City Australia Day Community Awards.

Nominations are open for residents of the municipality in a range of categories including sport, cultural, senior citizen, young person, disabled (or service to the disabled), business, service to the community, and the environment.

An award is also presented to the Gosford City Citizen of the Year.

Last Australia Day, Peninsula resident Stephen Cattley won the 2003 sports award for his commitment to sport as a player, coach and club official.

Stephen's recognition dated back to 1971, when Woy Woy Cricket Club awarded Stephen Life Membership, only the second club member to receive this honour.

Nomination forms are available at all Council libraries and offices, senior citizens' centres, youth centres, Council's web site or by telephoning 4325 8332.

Entries close on December 31.

Winners will be announced at a special awards presentation at Mt Penang on Friday, January 16.
