Narrow victory in championship

The final of the Woy Woy Mens Bowling Club triples championship was won by the team of Brian Sullivan, Laurie McAnally and Ken Young, who scored 18 over the McWhirter family team of Graham, Glen and Ron, on 17.

The match was an even contest in the early stages until the seventh end when Ken Young's team edged away to have a 10-shot lead after 14 ends of the scheduled 21.

Urged on by the big family contingent in attendance, the "Macks" clawed their way back to be only two shots down playing the last end.

This end turned out to be a thriller.

With the "Macks" holding three shots, Young ran at the head only to miss.

Sticking to his game plan, he played into the head again with his last bowl removing two of the opposition bowls for the narrowest of wins.
