Motherhood and creativity

Phegan's Bay artist Jo Brannigan is curating an art exhibition as part of her research into the effects of pregnancy and motherhood on creativity and art-making practices.

The exhibition features current work by Jo Brannigan, Sydney artist Bridget Toohey and recent work by UK artist Dr Linda Knight.

The exhibition will be on show at Pearl Beach Progress Hall on August 16 and 17 from 12 to 4pm.

As part of this research, members of the audience are invited to comment on their own experiences concerning pregnancy, motherhood and creative self-expression.

This exhibition is designed to be a celebration of women, specifically mothers.

Some of the pieces represent the male, acknowledging their part in motherhood.

Children are welcome to come along, in honour of mothers.
