Umina United takes minor premiership

Umina United First Grade Soccer team played East Gosford in the elite Premier League 1 to win the minor premiership at Umina oval on Sunday, July 3.

This was a brilliant game from both teams which put East Gosford up early in the match with a score of 1-0.

In front of a large crowd, the boys from Umina fought back and by the end of the game the score stood at Umina United 4 and East Gosford 2.

This victory gave Umina United the minor premiership for 2003.

Umina United Reserve Grade beat East Gosford 2-1 in a last minute nail-biter.

This win puts Umina into second place right behind Kanwal and guarantees a place in the semi finals.

The first and reserve grade semi finals start next Sunday at Pluim Park at.

The non-competition (under-5s to under-9s) and the junior competition (under-10s to under-16s) teams are now heading for their last three games of the soccer season which ends on August 23.

The junior competition teams then gear up for their semi-final games which begin on August 30.

The newly formed women's all age teams have cemented their position in the semi finals and are currently placed third, right on the heals of the second place Woy Woy team.

The women showed their potential by beating Budgewoi on the weekend with a convincing 4-0 win.

The Umina United Soccer Club membership has grown to over 600 players from Under 5's to over-35's.

Umina has 14 teams heading for the semi finals.
