Board riding competition held

A Umina Surf Board Riding competition was held on July 27.

In Cadets' grade, Chris Baker was first, Huw Toner was second, Robert Moate was third, and Sebastian Chudacek was fourth.

In the open grade, Dave Neilson was first placed, "Ringo" second, Adam Moore third, and James Petit fourth.

In the "Legends" category, Phil Toner was first, Geoff Hall second, and Gary Mensforth was third.

In the "Chicky Babes" category, Codie Johnson was first, Marissa Moore was second, Karissa DeLuca was third, and Cassie Johnson was fourth.

While not connected with the surf club, the competition is being run by several surf club members, led by Geff "Nobby" Hall from Umina Surf Club.

The first competition, two months ago, attracted about 20 competitors, with the June competition more than double that figure.

Recent Sunday's numbers have been down slightly due to the cold weather and the small surf conditions at other beaches.

However, Umina was showing good surf.

Competition is held the last Sunday morning of each month at Umina beach in front of the surf club.

Competition starts at 7am.
