Struggle in men's fours final

The final of the Everglades men's' fours saw a struggle of Glenn and Ted Hewson against Shayne Slavin and Ian Street.

With scores locked together after 21 ends, an extra end saw Glenn and Ted win the final by 23 shots to 22.

The triples semi-finals were both gripping finishes with the winners being decided on the last end with a margin of one shot.

Ray Mason, Ron Pye and Brian Crawley scored to come from behind win to beat Andrew McDonald, Mark Wilson and Howard Franklin, 17 shots to 16.

Peter O'Sullivan, Tom Bailey and Gordon Willmott scored an equally exciting win over Jack Ghiggino, Brian Crawly and Barry O'Connor, 21 shots to 20.

The Frank Kemp Memorial Triples was played on July 3 and 4 with strong teams all over the Central Coast participating.

The eventual winners were a composite side of A Pollock, B Eyles and B Windshuttle on a countback from a team from Halekulani consisting of K Ellis, T Fitzgerald and L Wilding.

Both teams finished with six wins and 38 shots.

Third place was taken by a team from Umina: G Mills, L Edwards and T Langley, who finished with 5 1/2 wins and 56 shots.
