Everglades Pro-Am is planned
The Everglades 2003 Pro-Am will be held on Monday, August 27.
Requests for sponsorships at various levels have resulted in an outstanding response.
The result is that of the 180 amateur places in the field, 94 have been allocated to sponsors, leaving 84 places for individual entries.
Individual entries may be made at the Everglades front reception on payment of the entry fee of $27.50.
The 60 professionals will compete for a total purse of $11,000 in a stroke event.
Amateurs with an AGU or WGA handicap will play a single stableford event, in conjunction with a teams stableford.
Players without an official handicap will not be eligible to compete in the singles event but will participate in the teams event on a maximum handicap of 18.
Many of the features of the 2002 Pro-am have been retained including a charity putting competition, nearest the pin on several holes, and long drive competitions.
There will be a trivia quiz which will include some questions on the rules of golf.
There will also be finger food snacks at the end of the round, limited free drinks and a $500 lucky draw at the end of the presentations.
The assistance of volunteers is needed on the day to act as spotters and marshals.

Joy Hall and Terry Godley have again proved to be a formidable combination in major two-ball events.
Their past successes include a win in the mixed fourball matchplay championships in 2000 with a win over Bill and Ruby Leon.
They repeated the performance in the mixed fourball matchplay by defeating Bill Leon and Shirley Bailey in the final on Sunday, July 29.
Joy and Terry went on to Tuggerah Lakes to play in the "Keno" mixed fourball district qualifier.
They won with a score of 47 points and will now proceed to the state finals which will be played at Horizons from October 14 to 16.
Notable recent golfing achievements include a hole-in-one by Rod Moyes at the 15th on June 29 which was matched by Paul Eleven at the same hole on July 13.
Troy Scott had a sub par round on June 28 to win with 42 points off a handicap of five.
Unfazed by the loss of a shot, he repeated the effort to win with another sub par round on July 11.
Brendan James played three under par, net 61, to win the August A grade medal with Shane O'Brien having to be content with runner-up at two under par, net 63.
Sean White continued his good form to shoot two under par for 40 points and a win on July 16.
Top performances were recorded by another up and coming youngster, Darren Chivas.
Darren on a handicap of one had +3 in a par event on July 9 and bettered this on July 19 with +6 off the same handicap.
The only disappointing feature of Darren's last round was that he displayed poor course management technique by birdieing the hole where he received his lone shot.
