Tourism conference at Killcare

Central Coast Tourism held a conference marketing presentation on August 5.

The presentation was held at "The Bells' on the Coast" at Killcare Heights, the Coast's newest conference venue.

Guests were informed of the importance of conference marketing and recent successes on the Coast.

They were also able to see first hand the splendour of The Bells'

The Bells is owned by Ian and Leonie Bell, former proprietors of Macmasters Beach Bells Bed and Breakfast.

Ian and Leonie Bell wanted to establish a country resort near the coast and found an eight and a half acre site on The Scenic Highway at Killcare Heights.

"The site was a vegetable farm 50 years ago but when we got it the main crop was lantana and bitou bush, both of which were very difficult to eradicate," Ian said.

The venue has been transformed with stage one, which consists of a main building and three double accommodation units.

The main building has been erected and decorated in a grand early Australian colonial style with an extensive use of antiques, open fire places, high ceilings, wide verandahs and luxurious furniture.

It includes a commercial kitchen that can be used for private functions and banquets for up to 60 people, or more with the use of additional outdoor marquees, as well as for the inclusion of fine dining options for accommodation guests.

Stage two will include an additional 11 double accommodation units as well as the completion of landscaping of most of the grounds with several water features being part of this.
