History society seeks help with Spike
Brisbane Water Historical Society is seeking public assistance with its role in SpikeFest.
Spikefest will be held in October and the society is gathering information and stories from local residents who may have met Spike Milligan.
As an example, Barbara Hickey of Woy Woy Little Theatre company has fond memories of Spike Milligan's visits to the Peninsula and the interest he took in the amateur theatre company.
Ms Hickey recounts one occasion when a contingent from the theatre company travelled to Sydney to see Spike perform at the Theatre Royal and to present him with a promotional t-shirt of their upcoming production.
Spike then wore the shirt during an interview on national television, publicising Woy Woy Little Theatre throughout Australia.
If you met Spike Milligan during one of his visits to the Central Coast, Brisbane Water Historical Society would like to hear from you.
Please contact Brisbane Water Historical Society members John and Glenys Hill on 4329 1956 or Sylvia Marshall on 4323 1058.
