F3 widening study funding announced
A study costing $500,000 will investigate widening the F3 freeway by extending to six lanes.
Member for Robertson, Mr Jim Lloyd, said Federal funding would allow a review and update of an earlier study into widening between the Hawkesbury River and Calga as well as a new study into the rest of the section between Wahroonga and Kariong.
Mr Lloyd said the study was essential before any funding for construction could be given.
He said no timetable had been established for the freeway widening but this would also be determined once the study was completed.
"On current projections, the cost of widening is likely to be $165 million," he said.
"The Federal Government funds all new construction and maintenance work on the F3 as part of the National Highway Program.
"The government has spent more than $1 billion upgrading the F3 since the program started 25 years ago," he said.
