Plenty planned for Australia Day
The Peninsula's Australia Day celebrations will take place on the Woy Woy waterfront on January 25, the evening before Australia Day.
Australia Day coordinator, Cr Debra Wales, said January 25 was chosen by the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce to avoid conflicting with plans by Sydney organisers and other Gosford City celebrations.
Cr Wales said there would be a bush dance theme for the day.
"A colonial bush dance will be held in Anderson Park on the Woy Woy waterfront beginning at 4pm and throughout the evening culminating in a fireworks display at 9.30pm," she said.
There will be also amusement rides, stalls, folk dancing and a colonial reenactment as well as displays from the Central Coast Car Club and art and craft groups.
The band Bluegum will perform under a marquee starting at 6pm and local hotels, cafes and restaurants will be open for the evening.
This year's celebrations are sponsored by Gosford City Council, the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Watersedge Boutique Motel.
Anyone wishing to participate by providing stalls can call the Peninsula Mainstreet office on 4342 7510.
