Schools get extra funding

The New South Wales Education and Training Minister Mr John Aquilina, MP has announced that two Peninsula schools will receive funding to assist with the construction of covered outdoor learning areas (COLA).

Umina High School will receive $5250 and Woy Woy Public School $3750.

Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews said the funding is a unique partnership between State Government schools and local communities.

Under the program, schools receive assistance to construct new facilities and improve existing buildings.

"This allows capital works projects to be fast tracked and gives the community an opportunity to participate in ventures which enhance their local school," said Ms Andrews.

"This funding comes on top of the additional $1 million the Government allocated to schools in June to commence work on projects early and is in addition to the Government's $206 million Schools Capital Works Program."
