Cash prizes offered in poetry competition
Poets rarely make any money from their craft but the Henry Kendall Poetry Award is offering cash prizes and prestige for its winners.
President of the Central Coast Poetry Society, Ms Mary Hawthorne, said she is expecting a record number of entries this year for the bi-annual award.
Entries come in from all parts of Australia.
The competition offers $500 first prize and $200 second prize in its open section.
A $70 first prize, $50 second prize and $25 third prize are offered in the categories for ages 13 to 18 and 12 years and under.

Entries close on March 3.
