Get behind Dr Duff to save after hours medical service
I am writing this as I am very concerned about what is happening to the After Hours Service at Woy Woy Hospital.
They are not out of the woods yet even though a promise has been made for funding.
The After Hours Service is run by local GPs who give up their own time of an evening or weekend to make sure we do not need to travel to Gosford for treatment.
The service has not had any increase in funding from the Government for years now and cannot keep delivering to the community on the current budget.
I wrote to Dr Gordon Reid MP but am still waiting on a response.
The service urgently needs extra funding to stay viable and meet the needs of the community.
On top of this there is a shortage of local GP's who are not willing to help staff the service along with Dr Paul Duff.
Dr Paul Duff is doing everything humanly possible to keep this service going but he cannot do this single-handedly.
He needs a big response from all GPs practising on the Peninsula to lessen his own workload and do what is best for the community.
It should not be on the shoulders of one good man to service the whole Peninsula.
We need a group effort to make this work and we need the help of the Government and other GPs to jump on board to save this vital service.
If this vital service closes we are all at risk next time we get sick.
Pensioners live week to week and cannot afford the travel to Gosford in an emergency.
The parking prices at Gosford Hospital and long wait times also makes it impossible for some residents.
Please get behind Dr Paul Duff and try to save this vital after hours service as it is vital for the health and well being of our residents.
If we can get more GPs on board to service this Centre there will be less of a burden on others to keep it going.
With doctors retiring and some leaving the Peninsula we really need to put a plan in motion to make it easier for GPs to run this service.
Let us all get behind Dr Paul Duff and help him keep this vital service going.
