Bio-offset unlikely to be done in a hurry
Is the sale of council land in Woy Woy's town centre to advance the interests of stakeholders and the Woolworths Group the ultimate criticism of bio- banking?
I refer to Administrator Hart's option: the destruction of vegetation to finance a bio-banking scheme on the Peninsula.
Will this proposal have the same council interest as the urban greening strategy, which is awaiting action from 2018, and the climate change policy, awaiting action from 2015?
This new bio-offset scheme will be a council-conceived plan, also actioned by the council.
Where are the case study examples of the urban greening policy?
Are there any details available or is this information strictly confidential?
All the advice from Administrator Hart at the last council meeting was theoretical and all the details have been deferred to sometime in the future.
I believe this will certainly be later than next year's local government elections, as Mr Hart concentrates on the Gosford Waterfront development and preparing council's administration for the inevitable scrutiny after his departure.
Woolworths Group has again stated it has "no detailed plans".
Is this comment true, considering Woolworths is the main tenant in Peninsula Plaza, with acknowledged issues regarding the operation of the outlet.
Woolworths has been generic in drafting its response to the editor.
