Demolition order issued for Empire Bay Marina

Central Coast Council has issued the NSW Crown Lands agency with a demolition order for the Empire Bay Marina building.

"Due to safety risks, Council has issued Crown Lands with a demolition order for the Empire Bay Marina," according to an unattributed media release, presumably issued on the authority of Council general manager Mr David Farmer.

The decision was made following an approach to Council by Crown Lands.

Crown Lands raised "the dilapidated nature of the boatshed structure and the potential safety risks to people who have been, and might continue to, access the boatshed and associated wharfs/jetties, even though the site is closed to public access", Mr Farmer said.

"The demolition order includes conditions to address both environmental and heritage considerations associated with demolition."
