Recognition for HSIE students

Brisbane Water Secondary College Woy Woy Campus' Human Society and its Environment faculty has launched a new program for HSIE students.

"After the Higher School Certificate results came out in December last year, our HSIE faculty decided to launch their HSIE Academy," said campus principal Ms Rebecca Cooper.

"This is in recognition and celebration of HSC results for our Year 12 students who have achieved excellent HSC results in HSIE courses.

"On the noticeboard outside the HSIE staffroom upstairs in J Block, you can now see year-by-year lists of Woy Woy HSIE students who finished in the top three in their course or achieved a Band 6 HSC mark (90 plus) in their course," Ms Cooper said.

The HSIE Academy includes students from every Year 12 right from the start of the College in 2002, through to our most recent HSC cohort in 2018 and will be updated annually.

"There is also the very prestigious HSIE All Stars list, which recognises students who have achieved high HSC marks in two or more HSIE courses or else one very high HSC mark (95 plus) in a HSIE course," Ms Cooper said.

HSIE subjects include Aboriginal Studies, Ancient History, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, History Extension, Legal Studies, Modern History, Society and Culture, and Studies of Religion.
