Umina surf club dominates branch championships

Umina Surf Life Saving Club dominated during the Central Coast Branch Champion Lifesaver event held at Soldiers Beach on February 17.

Umina recorded seven first place finishes at the event, making the club the most successful of the day.

Shelley Smith got the ball rolling for Umina, recording a first place finish in the 30-39 Female Champion Lifesaver and this was followed up by Kerry Armstrong-Smith who also took out first place in the 40 Plus Years Female Champion Lifesaver.

Jemma Smith was the next Umina representative to land on the podium, taking out first place in the Open Female Champion Lifesaver event.

In the Under 15 Female Champion Lifesaver Umina's Bethwyn Caller and Ebony Rayner found themselves neck-and-neck in the grand final, with Caller pulling ahead to claim first place with Rayner in second.

Umina also took out the Under-15 Male Champion Lifesaver with Matthew Kearney claiming the gold.

Kirsten Miller and Zachariah Halliday sealed Umina's excellent form with a first place in the Under-17 Female Champion Lifesaver and Under-17 Male Champion Lifesaver respectively.
