Rail fares rise

Train fares from Woy Woy station increased by five percent from Sunday, August 31, as part of an overall increase by NSW State Rail.

Gosford tickets rose to $5.60 for an adult return and $22 weekly, while pensioner return fares rose to $2.20.

Tickets to Central rose to $16 for an adult return and $47 for a weekly ticket, and tickets to Hornsby rose to $10.40 and $37 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Minister for the Central Coast, Mr John Della Bosca, has encouraged local public transport users to make submissions to the government's public transport inquiry.

"We need to ensure that the report's authors are aware of the Central Coast's transport needs and the range of local views on trains and buses, in particular," he said.

Public submissions to the inquiry will be taken until October 10 and should be addressed to Dr Tom Parry, NSW Ministry of Transport, Level 17, 227 Elizabeth St, Sydney 2000.
