Smart card project receives award

A smart card project, developed and implemented by Smart Health Solutions at Brisbane Water Private Hospital, has been announced as the winner of the 2003 Australian Smart Card Industry Award.

Mr Richard Fleming, Chairman of the Asian Pacific Smart Card Forum, announced the winner at a special gala dinner held in Melbourne and commended the project on its contribution to the Australian smart card industry.

"The project provides a secure online application that makes patient clinical data available at the point of care to all participating health care providers," Brisbane Waters Private Hospital CEO Mr Graham McGuinness said.

"Almost 4000 cards have been issued to Central Coast patients and a growing number of general practitioners and specialists are participating in the scheme.

"Brisbane Waters has been working closely with Smart Health Solutions for the past three years in fine tuning this concept and the award is wonderful recognition of this ground-breaking technology."
