Kayaking for schizophrenia
Donna Edye, a hairdresser from Wollongong, entered the waters of the Peninsula in a kayak on Tuesday, September 16, to raise awareness and funds for schizophrenia research.
Ms Edye began her paddle from Woy Woy Wharf at 9am and paddled up to Gosford.
It was just one leg of a wider journey by Ms Edye up the east coast of Australia, raising finds and awareness for mental health.
"Seaquest", as it is known, began in Cooktown, North Queensland, in Octoberlast year and will finish at the end of September in Wollongong.
Ms Edye has set up a charity aimed at preventing or curing schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
5he said that the Peninsula community had been supportive of her cause.
Ettalong Beach Tourist Resort covered Ms Edye's costs giving her accommodation at the last minute and organising transport.
"They've been brilliant," she said.
