Diamond anniversary was celebrated
Iris and Alan Martin of Woy Woy South celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday, September 4.
The couple, who have been married for 60 years, received cards from the Queen, the Governor General, Prime Minister Mr John Howard, Opposition Leader Mr Simon Crean and Gosford mayor Cr Robert Bell.
They were also paid visits by Member for Robertson Mr Jim Lloyd and Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews.
Mrs Martin said that she did not inform anyone about her wedding anniversary.
"I was surprised by the number of tributes.
"They kept coming all week," she said.
Mrs Martin said that her daughter only told Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews about the anniversary.
The Martin's were married at St John Church of England, Rockdale, in 1943 when they were both 21 years old and in 1982 they moved to the Central Coast.
They have a son, 55, and daughter, 52, plus five grandchildren.
Mr and Mrs Martin celebrated their anniversary at Laurieton with family and friends.
