Schools take part in Education Week
Schools across the Peninsula have celebrated Education Week with activities for parents and students.
Parents of students from Pretty Beach Public School visited the school on September 10, and staff received awards.
Empire Bay Public School students performed a musical "A City Spectacular", on September 8, 9 and 10.
Students from years 3 to 6, including the senior and junior choirs, performed the musical.
Years 3 to 6 teachers and parents supported the musical in various ways.
Pretty Beach Public School parents were invited to bring picnic lunches to share with students between 12.50pm and 1.50pm.
Staff received district education week certificates at the district awards ceremony at Terrigal High School on September 9.
Helen Ingle was recognised for her contribution to school curriculum development and implementation and Margaret McFadyen for her contribution to school fundraising over several years.
Woy Woy South Public School held public speaking finals, a book fair display in the library, a barbecue, the Bald Archies art competition, grade and class performances and a teddy bears' picnic.
At Umina Public School, students from BWSC Umina Campus performed for the students on Thursday, September 11.
Umina Public School also held an open day and book fair as part of the week's activities.
"Education week open day was a very successful day with an overwhelming number of parents visiting our school," principal Mr John Blair said.
