Bride denies hindering cockatoo rescue

I am writing to you in response to an article which was printed in the Peninsula News dated December 17.

The article was "Wedding party hinders the rescue of a cockatoo" written by Jim McGinty.

I am writing to you to let you know that I was the bride in the wedding party and that we in no way hindered the rescue.

The rescue party turned up and realised that they could not rescue the bird with the equipment they had as they needed a cherry picker to rescue the bird.

Therefore our wedding did not cause the problem.

I do not know who Ms Pam Strykowski is, but I can assure you that she was not invited to the wedding and she did not attend.

So I do not appreciate her making the statement that "They were asked to leave by members of the wedding party".

They were not asked to leave by anyone and if they would have had the right equipment they could have rescued the bird on their first trip.

We would not have minded at all.

I just wanted to let you know that the article upset me, as it was untrue.
