Financial difficulties hit Umina Bunnies

Financial difficulties at Umina Rugby League Club have cost the club its place the Central Coast competition.

Central Coast division general manager Mr Terry Wand said that the club's financial state would not allow it to compete in the 2003 competition.

"I do not believe they will even be able to function as club at all," he said.

Mr Wand said that the club's financial difficulties were discovered after the election of a new committee at the club's annual meeting.

Mr Wand said that he was waiting on a report on the financial situation of the club following a meeting on January 9.

"At this stage, they will not be in the competition," he said.

He said it would be hard to say whether the club would be back in later years.

"Their debts will have to be looked at," he said.

"They are quite a competitive club with strong players and good juniors," he said.

"It's a very sad situation."
