Men's Shed hands back keys to old premises
Umina Beach Men's Shed has formally "handed the keys back" after vacating its Birdwood Ave premises on Friday, June 14.
The Men's Shed "closed down all the usual workings" at Birdwood Ave in May after it received an "occupation certificate" for its new premises in Osborne Ave.
"Our very generous and accommodating landlords, Peninsula Village, were naturally very keen to at last recover the premises for Peninsula Village activity, having been super patient and aware of all the delays that the new Shed project in Osborne Av was subjected to," said Shed committee member Mr Vic Brown.
He said a group of Shed members had worked five days a week to relocate all the equipment and supplies to Osborne Ave.
"A few of the lads met with representatives of Peninsula Village on Friday, June 14, and a short ceremony for the 'last closing of the gate' was held and the keys handed over with our sincere thanks," said Mr Brown.
"We are now busy with the same team setting up and tidying our new Shed at Osborne Ave.
"We are hopeful that we will be able to open up on July 1 and for all the members to return to recommence work on their projects."
He said the "new atmospherics" would enhance members' connectivity and fellowship.
A date for the official opening would be announced soon.
