Garage sale likely to become annual event
A "monster garage sale" at Pearl Beach with 30 stalls has raised $4200 for the Pearl Beach Progress Association.
The success of the association's second June Long Weekend Garage Sale seems to have ensured it will continue as an annual event.
Association publicity officer Ms Lynne Lillico said that, for many years, the Association had run a variety of car boot sales, bric-a brac stores and pre-loved clothing sales at different times.
Last year, the Events and Fundraising Sub-committee reintroduced these as a garage sale on the June long weekend in the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall, said Ms Lillico.
"It was a great success and this year we decided to hold it again," she said.
This year,30 stalls manned by local residents were selling a variety of items including designer clothes, household goods, homewares, kids games and a variety of interesting memorabilia.
The event included a raffle, a soup station and a barbecue.
Association president Ms Victoria Crawford thanked the organisers for a "wonderful event".
"It looks like an annual event," she said.
