Cycling group to hold Tour de Central Coast
Central Coast Bicycle User Group will hold a "Tour de Central Coast" from June 29 to July 21 to coincide with the Tour de France, with several stages including Woy Woy.
The group will award its yellow jersey on the basis of participation, rather than speed.
New rules have been introduced this year, based on feedback and lessons learnt from previous years, according to organiser Mr Alan Corven.
Each person can only win the Tour de Central Coast Championship, the yellow jersey, once in a lifetime.
"We like to share it around."
Committee members cannot win the Championship, but can win minor prizes.
Anyone can join the rides but only financial members can win prizes.
Points will be awarded for signing on and joining in TdCC logo rides during the Tour de Central Coast timeframe.
One point is awarded for each weekday ride and two points for weekend rides.
An extra point is awarded for wearing a Central Coast Bicycle User Group jersey or polo.
Where two or more riders have the same final points score, a countback on the number of previous 2024 rides with the group will determine the ultimate winner.
One of the first legs of the event will be from Gosford to Woy Woy on July 2.
It will start at the Eat Street Cafe on the Gosford Waterfront at 8am and is expected to take two hours..
Participants are asked to arrive at least five minutes before start time to say hello and sign on.
It is described as an easy ride along the shared path to Woy Woy and back, about 25kms in total.
