Clean4Shore is highly commended

Local marine clean-up project Clean4shore has been highly commended in the Coastcare category of the State Landcare Awards earlier this month.

Clean4shore has been a finalist in these bi-annual awards since 2013, winning the State Award in 2017 and the National Award in 2018.

"It is always good to be recognised," said project co-ordinator Mr Graham "Jono" Johnston.

"However it is our army of volunteers that deserves the praise."

Mr Johnston said that, last year, Clean4Shore conducted 122 field trips, with 761 volunteers completing 2625 voluntary hours to remove 62.14 tonne of rubbish.

"Our program during 2023 was active on the Hawkesbury River, Brisbane Water, Tuggerah Lakes, Lower Lake Macquarie, Hunter River and Port Stephens," he said.
