Local Member visits Blackwall Reserve

Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid visited Blackwall Reserve at 23 Memorial Ave on Wednesday, June 12, at the invitation of residents wanting it retained as "community land".

"This reserve is threatened with sell-off because it is currently classified as operational land," said organiser Ms Jane Hendy.

"Dr Reid has promised his support to the campaign to change the classification to community land.

"This would enable it to remain in Council ownership for the benefit of the community.

"The reserve is home to remnant Umina Coastal Sandplain Woodland and several animal species, including microbats and tawny frogmouths.

"It is also the site of an extensive midden."
