Peninsula Touch sends team to New Zealand
The Peninsula Touch Association has sent a Mixed Opens team to New Zealand to compete in the Whakatane Touch Competition, ultimately playing in the grand final.
The team played some of the best teams in New Zealand.
The Peninsula team had a 6-4 victory in its first game against Switch.
The team then faced favourites, Galaxy, who won 3-1.
The third game saw the Peninsula side defeat the Mudchickens 8-1 win.
The second last round game put the Peninsula up against a young rep side Suns Waikato, which won 6-1.
The last round game was the team's hardest challenge.
Playing against T's Up, described as "a red hot team in form", the Peninsula played a great game of footy to come out on top with a 4-1 victory.
This put the Peninsula side into the grand final against Galaxy.
After a confident lead coming into half time, Galaxy managed to wrestle back to a draw forcing us to a drop off.
A well-constructed couple of moves put Galaxy over early and their defence was great.
Final score was 9-8 in a thrilling.
