Volunteer bus driver sought for aged residents

A Woy Woy aged care home is seeking a volunteer bus driver to take its residents on weekly outings.

"BlueWave Living is currently seeking a volunteer bus driver to provide safe and efficient transport for our residents to various locations for weekly outings and adhoc events," said chief executive Mr Matt Downie.

"This is an excellent role for someone that is wanting to give back to the community and provide companionship to passengers."

The bus driver's duties will include driving resident groups to and from outings, helping stow resident equipment on the bus, and ensuring all residents are wearing their seat belts.

The driver will refuel the vehicle and ensure it is clean and safe, reporting any faults and damage as soon as possible.

Information sessions and training will be provided when required.

"You will need to be great with people, courteous and provide a friendly environment for passengers," said Mr Downie.

"You would ideally be someone who shows care, support and have excellent communication skills to be able to have and share in conversations with our residents.

"You will also be capable and fit to assist carers to load and unload the bus.

"To drive our bus you must possess a current drivers licence.

"We will also require a criminal check (less than six months old) which we can arrange on your behalf and two referees."
