Six students receive inaugural Robertson Medallions
Students at six Peninsula schools have received inaugural Robertson Medallions from the Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid.
They are Year 9 Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus student Ebony Falconer, Year 12 Brisbane Water Secondary College Woy Woy campus student Olivia Petersen, Year 6 St John the Baptist Primary School student Ella Jenkin, Year 5 Umina Beach Public School student Geordie Finlayson-Walker, Year 5 Woy Woy Public School student Nevaeh Markham and Year 6 Woy Woy South Public School student Isabella Grant.
Dr Reid said he established the award "to recognise students who have demonstrated, throughout the school year, consistent dedication to the principles of social justice, community initiative, leadership, and integrity".
"When I was elected the Federal Member for Robertson, there was no end-of-year award dedicated to recognising outstanding students from the Australian Government at a local level, within the electorate", Dr Reid said.
"Schools nominate a student who they have identified meets the criteria to receive the award", Dr Reid said.
"I have been amazed by the outstanding community work each Robertson Medallion recipient has been involved with throughout 2023, and I am very confident in our up-and-coming leaders of tomorrow", Dr Reid said.
"There have been 42 recipients of the Robertson Medallion for 2023."
Not all schools in the Robertson electorate participated.
"I look forward recognising many more students with a Robertson Medallion in 2024," Dr Reid said.
