Aged care residents alerted to fee review changes

A local aged care home has alerted its residents and families to changes in reviews of aged care fees.

The new monthly reviews by Services Australia will apply changes to care recipient fees closer to when changes happen, said BlueWave Living chief executive Mr Matt Downie.

"These will replace the quarterly reviews."

"This means care recipients may receive more regular letters advising of fee changes or refunds.

"It is important to review letters thoroughly as changes to fees will take effect from the date advised in the letter.

"In addition, a care recipient can request an ad hoc review if their circumstances change and they want their fees checked outside of the monthly review process.

"In either situation, if a new fee is lower than the previous fee, a refund will be calculated at the next regular review, and both the care recipient and BlueWave Living will be notified in writing."
