Cycling group reintroduces assisted tandem rides
The Central Coast Bicycle Users Group has reintroduced its Ride Assist program, with the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions.
"RidesAssist is a program of tandem rides to help those living with a disability to enjoy the freedom, exhilaration and exercise provided by cycling," said group president Mr Alan Corven.
"We have experienced tandem pilots who take people living with a vision or other physical disability on short rides as stokers on the back.
"Over time several of our stokers have built up to rides over 100kms long, although not everybody wants to extend themselves that far.
"Our RidesAssist rides were halted in March due to Covid-19 concerns, but we are now restarting as locally transmitted cases are low to none in NSW and health precautions are taken to minimise the risks."
"All our rides are offered free of charge, although we do encourage regular participants to join CCBUG as members for only $20 per year, and to join Bicycle NSW to obtain insurance cover and to support the peak advocacy cycling body in NSW."
The group often has rides that include Woy Woy.
Anyone interested should contact RidesAssist officer William O'Neill on 0432 691 978.
