Principal encourages reading over the break
Ettalong Public School principal Ms Lynn Balfour has urged parent to encourage their children to read over the Christmas break.
"Before bedtime or when the novelty of the new Christmas gifts has worn off a little, remind the children of the enjoyment of reading stories or gathering information," she said.
"Children who are still mastering the art of reading for meaning tend to drop down a reading level or two during school holidays.
"There are so many great children's books to choose from in the shops or at the local library."
